These old Chinese grain scoops date to the 19th century and are made from poplar wood. Originally they were used as day to day objects for measuring rice, grain, and flour at the market.
The adze marks from the construction of this grain scoop combine perfectly with the smooth finish (gained by decades of constant use) and a wonderful rich patina to result in a totally unique decorative piece.
