This carved teakwood tika box originates from the Banswara tribal region of Rajasthan and dates to the early 20th century. Hand-carved from a single piece of teak, it was traditionally used for storing red powder, known as tika or bindi, which is applied to the forehead in Hindu rituals and ceremonies.
With its timeworn patina and simple yet distinctive domed lid, this piece embodies both cultural heritage and village artistry. Each tika box is unique, making them highly collectable objects. Whether displayed singly or as part of a group, they bring warmth, authenticity, and a sense of tradition to any interior.
