Bring warmth, character, and centuries of craftsmanship to your garden with this authentic antique Indian Kadai fire bowl. Originally used as a large-scale cooking vessel at festivals, weddings, and community gatherings across Rajasthan, these remarkable iron cauldrons have found a new life as decorative outdoor fire pits. Hand-selected in India for their substantial construction, aesthetic appeal, and durability, each Kadai bears the marks of its working life, with a richly patinated surface and distinctive hand-forged character.

Dating from the early 20th century, this example has been traditionally constructed from thick iron plates that have been riveted and hammer-welded together, creating the unique patchwork appearance for which antique Kadais are renowned. The bowl is supplied with a metal stand and cooking grill, allowing it to be enjoyed as both a fire pit and outdoor cooking feature. When not in use, it also makes an attractive planter, bringing sculptural interest to garden settings throughout the year.

These vessels are closely associated with the Gaduliya Lohars, a community of itinerant blacksmiths from Rajasthan and Gujarat who were historically celebrated for their metalworking skills. Crafted from repurposed iron using traditional techniques, each Kadai represents a fascinating piece of India's rich heritage of recycling, craftsmanship, and practical design.
