The original piece was constructed with mulberry panels and a poplar wood frame and is over 100 years old. It came from Gansu Province and was originally lacquered with a red lacquer which has since worn away. The remains can be seen as orange lacquer spotting over the cabinet.

With 2 drawers, this is a very functional piece of furniture & was selected by the buyers for its beautiful patina.
