This antique beautifully patinate Korean coin chest was known as a Ton-Kwe.
Paper money did not exist in Korea until later dynasties and coins were strung together on strings in large quantities to have value. As such, a strong money box was a necessity.

With hardy and well crafted iron work this would have been made for a wealthy family.

Antique Korean furniture is rare to find in Europe, especially of this quality. This chest is the perfect height for an unusual coffee table.
