This dramatic and large tianqiuping blue & white porcelain dragon vase is a reproduction of similar vases sold at auctions. Our reproduction Chinese blue & white vases are turned and hand painted by skilled artists using traditional techniques learned from their families and passed down through generations.

The vase features five claw dragons amongst chrysanthemum flowers and trailing foliage. Chinese emperors used dragons to instill their power and strength. The dragon consequently became the most famous of all Chinese symbols. Auspicious, with control over water, rain, hurricanes, and floods the dragon grants good luck to those worthy enough. The chrysanthemum flower is a symbol of longevity and long life. Chinese people even drank chrysanthemum wine on the ninth day of each lunar month for its life giving properties.

Blue and white Chinese vases are steeped in centuries of Chinese culture and history originating in the Qin dynasty (221 - 207BC). All our reproduction Chinese porcelain is made in Jingdezhen which has been the capital of Chinese porcelain production since 1004 AD. The famous imperial kilns have been sited there since the Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644 AD).

Similar style vases to this one have sold at renowned auctions such as Sotheby's & Dreweatts for sometimes hundreds of thousands of pounds.
