This compact, practical and attractive Korean cabinet style is called ich'ung nong and can be distinguished by the two identical stacking storage units with central doors. The front is pear wood and the sides are kiri wood.

The doors are fastened with traditional locking pins concealed by a brass locking plate. The fittings are indicative of pieces from Gyeonggi Do province which surrounds Seoul. Gyeonggi-do literally translates as 'the area surrounding the capital'.

Its compact stature makes it perfect for smaller rooms or a study. As with many pieces, it is finished internally with hanji (later replaced), traditional handmade Korean paper made using the inner bark of the mulberry tree. There are two doorstops which are typical of ich'ung nong cabinets.
