This Japanese rectangular hibachi is fitted with two drawers, compartments and brazier pit with copper liner.

Hibachi's were multi purpose items originally found in the homes of the wealthier classes in Japanese society but gradually became more widespread in later dates. Coal was added to the lined pit and set alight to cook food, warm drinks, and heat rooms.

Red Elm, also known as zelkova has a vivid grain structure.
