This antique Japanese Isho-Dansu bedside chest dates from the Meiji period (1868 - 1912) and would have been used for clothing storage. With three drawers and a small door opening to reveal drawers inside the money box this is a very practical chest of drawers. The body and drawer runners are made from Cryptomeria with the front made from Zelkova (Red Elm) - The whole piece has been bound with intricately crafted Japanese iron.

Many Japanese antiques we find are poorly restored - We painstakingly restore each piece using traditional Japanese techniques to ensure these pieces last and are loved for many more life times to come.
