This iron Indian pot has timeless craftsmanship and is called a lota. The Indian lota, water pot was historically the most important piece of equipment for each household throughout India. Lotas are the family€™s water pots and have been used for many generations to collect water from the rivers or village wells .
These pots are most iconically known for being balanced very elegantly on the heads of mostly women, or sometimes children. It€™s one of their daily chores, collecting the water and chattering along the way with friends an neighbors.
Its classical form makes this a piece of art, but also works as a dramatic vase for a dried flower arrangement.
