Carved Roheda Wood Takhat Table From Shekhawati - 19th Century

This magnificent antique Indian takhat—a traditional daybed from Rajasthan—has been beautifully repurposed as a coffee table. Originating from the Shekhawati region and dating to the 19th century, it is crafted from organic roheda wood, a dense variety of teak prized for its strength and deep, warm tone. The table retains exquisite hand-carved floral detailing along its apron, complemented by the rich patina that has developed over more than a century of use.

The top is made from thick planks bound with hand-forged iron straps, with time-worn patches and repairs that tell the story of its long life. Each imperfection adds to its charm and authenticity.
