This is an original antique Indian mirror with a reverse glass painted frame. Original mirrors are rare to find in India, especially undamaged ones like this. The frame is an Indian imitation of French eglomise mirrors of the 18th century. The mirror glass has a bevel adding to its regal feel.

Reverse glass painting originated in Italy and the skill was then exported to China. It rose to popularity in India in the 19th century as itinerant Chinese painters toured the country on commission work.

This incredibly decorative mirror would bring a wall alive in any home. This can be hung landscape or portrait. Please let us know at the time of purchase so we can attach wall hangers.
