This richly detailed Vedic horoscope painting is a Vishnu protection horoscope centred on a pūrṇa-kalaśa€”the auspicious full water vessel€”set within an astrological grid of Devanagari seed syllables. Above, a shrine tableau features a ceremonial temple flag (dhvaja) marked with a red chakra emblem, flanked by twin garlands and a stepped altar, signalling the protective presence of Vishnu.

The kalaśa, framed by solar and lunar motifs and resting on a lotus, symbolises abundance, purity and the indwelling of the divine. Together, the yantra grid, ritual emblems and brief invocations create a portable blessing: a talisman to harmonise planetary influences and invite prosperity into the home or shop.

  • Subject: Pūrṇa-kalaśa with lotus base, Sun/Moon emblems, and Vishnu shrine symbols (temple flag with chakra, garlands, stepped altar)
  • Function: Graha śānti (planetary-peace) yantra for protection and prosperity
  • Script: Devanagari letters arranged as bīja (seed) syllables within a ritual grid
  • Iconography: Vishnu-associated dhvaja (flag) with chakra emblem, garlands for offering, lotus for purity and cosmic unfolding
  • Medium: Hand-painted pigments on paper, later framed for hanging
  • Origin: India
  • Condition: Light age toning and minor creases consistent with devotional use

A compelling folk-astrological work that unites sacred vessel, mantra and Vishnu shrine emblems into a single, displayable blessing.
