This spectacular Indian jali purdah screen is a beautifully made reproduction inspired by the elaborate architectural screens and decorative carving of the Mughal period. Crafted in Rajasthan from old reclaimed teak, the screen combines intricate geometric jali work with deeply carved floral decoration and elegant scalloped Mughal-style arches.
The two central doors form the focal point of the design, framed by tall pierced side panels and richly carved floral borders. The fine repeating geometric latticework creates a remarkable sense of detail and gives this substantial architectural piece a lighter, more delicate appearance. A white painted and lime-washed finish softens the surface while highlighting the carving and natural character of the reclaimed timber.
Highly decorative and impressively proportioned, the screen would make a sensational room partition, decorative architectural feature or statement bed head. The detailed carving is on the front only, while the lime-washed finish has been applied to both sides. The two central doors are currently configured to open inwards but can be modified if required.
The screen is supplied disassembled to make access into the home considerably easier. We can provide assembly advice and instructions; however, we are unable to offer an assembly service outside Wiltshire.
