This antique Indian brass ink pot is both simple and ornate, it would have been filled with inks made of plant resins with soot or mineral colours for writing.
Ink pots just like this one are seen today as decorative antiques in homes and museums - a memento of the past. This one has retained its original lid which is less common.
Many of our Indian brass collectibles are between 50 & 150 years old; therefore, many have some small marks and dents from original use which add to the character.
