This traditional ikat weaving on a hand loom can be found in many towns across the islands of East Nusa Tenggara.
Each area has its own distinctive motifs and patterns as well as color preferences. The difference in the designs and colors represent the variety that exists among the various ethnicities, customs, and beliefs of the people of Flores.

Dyed by hand using natural sustainable dyes such as ceriops tagal bark.

Sarong or sarung denotes the lower garment worn by Southeast Asian men and women which is stitched at the narrower edges to form a tube. One steps into this tube, brings the upper edge above the level of the navel (the hem should be level with the ankles).

The stitching could easily be unpicked, so it could be used as a throw.
