Green Yaobian Glaze Temple Jar

This handmade Chinese temple jar is produced in Jingdezhen and finished with a distinctive green copper yaobian glaze. The glaze ranges from turquoise and blue-green to deeper teal tones, with a fine crackled surface and natural variations created during firing. Pale speckling across the glaze adds further texture and character.

The jar has a classic rounded form with a removable domed lid topped by a pointed finial. Each piece is handmade by skilled craftspeople using traditional techniques, meaning the exact colour and distribution of the glaze will vary from piece to piece.

Jingdezhen has been an important centre of Chinese porcelain production since 1004 AD and was home to the imperial kilns during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644).

Due to the handmade nature of these pieces, variations in colour, glaze and surface are to be expected and form part of their character.
