This authentic 19th century Tibetan cabinet is a beautifully preserved example of traditional Himalayan furniture, retaining its original hand-painted decoration and richly aged surface patina. The facade is adorned with vibrant floral motifs in deep reds, ochres, greens and blues, framed by delicate painted borders that reflect the decorative artistry associated with Tibetan domestic and religious interiors. Its honest wear and softened painted surface speak to generations of use, giving the piece exceptional character and authenticity.

Traditionally used as a family altar cabinet, pieces such as this stored religious manuscripts, ceremonial textiles, jewellery and yak butter for prayer lamps. The cabinet features removable glazed panels to the upper sections, allowing access to internal shelving, while the lower compartment opens through two painted doors offering generous storage. Tibetan furniture of this age and originality has become increasingly rare, particularly examples retaining such untouched decorative charm. Carefully cleaned and sensitively restored by our workshop team, the cabinet preserves its historic integrity while remaining highly functional for contemporary interiors.
