This beautifully preserved Chinese red lacquer document box dates from the Qing dynasty and is made in the traditional method of lacquering onto leather and wood. The exterior is decorated with detailed gilt painting but the best preservation can be found on the interior of the lid.

The brass is original and this document box originally comes from Shanxi province in central China.  A real collector's piece.
