Carried from the bustling ghats of Haridwar, where the sacred Ganges meets the Himalayan foothills, this Ganga-Jumna Ravitra Pani lota holds more than water - it holds the memory of devotion. Fashioned in the traditional two-tone Ganga-Jumna style, warm brass flows into a wide copper band, echoing the confluence of two great rivers.

Around the vessel's shoulder, an inscription in finely punched Devanagari script reads: "गंगा जमुना पवित्र पानी" - "Sacred Water of the Ganga and Jamuna" and "हरिद्वार" - "Haridwar". These words confirm its purpose: to safeguard holy water gathered during pilgrimage, water believed to cleanse the soul and bless the home.

The silver-coloured traces along the rim tell of the day it was sealed - lid pressed tight with molten alloy - so that not a drop of the river's purity would be lost on the journey. Such vessels travelled from the temple steps to faraway villages, carried by pilgrims returning from the Kumbh Mela or other great gatherings.

Its rounded form and flared neck speak of the timeless lota shape, a design passed through centuries for both beauty and practicality. The patina, softly worn by handling and years, now carries the warmth of history into any collection or interior.
