These hand-painted graha śānti yantras (planetary-peace diagrams) combine mandalas with Hindu gods. An enigmatic icon of Vedic astrological practice.

Horoscope 1:

The first is an image of Surya - the Sun deity - coiled by a serpent that likely signifies the shadow planets Rahu or Ketu. Above, a star-mandala, a mantra grid, Together, these elements form a devotional-astrological talisman intended to harmonise difficult planetary influences. The top inscription reads Graha Shanti Yantra (ग्रह शांति यंत्र), identifying its function as a charm to pacify the planets. Below, a protective line invokes divine aid, and the chequered table is filled with bīja syllables (seed mantras) for meditative recitation. The Sun's face represents vitality and auspicious light, while the serpent alludes to eclipse forces that the yantra seeks to neutralise.

Horoscope 2:

A hand-painted devotional-astrological image of Shri Ganesh, seated with four arms and traditional attributes, above a richly rendered pūrṇa-kalaśa (auspicious water pot topped with leaves). Folk works like this were created as charms for good beginnings and smooth undertakings, inviting Ganesh's protection and prosperity into the home or shop.

The surrounding Sanskrit text in Devanagari includes invocations such as "Śrī Gaṇeśāya Namaḥ" (salutations to Lord Ganesha) and phrases praising him as "sarva-vighna-vināśa - the remover of all obstacles." The kalaśa below signals fullness, fertility, and the abiding presence of the divine, making this a potent blessing image as well as a striking piece of folk art.

Horoscope 3:

This hand-painted Surya yantra combines a radiant sun-face, a lotus-wheel of seed syllables, and a calculation grid used in folk astrology. The multi-petalled diagram carries Devanagari letters as bīja sounds, and the short invocation reads "Ādityāya namaḥ -Salutations to the Sun-god". The lower table repeats vowels and numerals in a simple horoscopic chart, while the wide-eyed face of Surya anchors the piece for daily contemplation. Such paintings were traditionally hung to balance the horoscope and invite the Sun's auspicious light.
