An excellent example of an antique folding Tibetan painted choksar dating from the 19th century. This particular Choksar is decorated with a traditional Tibetan dragon clutching the Jewels Of Tibet.

Choksars (as with antique Tibetan furniture in general) are becoming increasingly rare. Choksars were used as prayer tables by monks for reading scrolls and books. As a folding prayer table, this would have been used by a travelling monk going from village to village. Our expert team have sensitively restored this piece, cleaning the residue whilst retaining its age and patina.
