This elegant porcelain vase is a fine example of the flambé glaze technique, developed in the Kangxi reign (1662-1722) and celebrated for its rich oxblood red tones (created by oxidising iron & copper) called "sang de boeuf" and subtle variations of depth and shading. Known as a Fengweizhen or “phoenix-tail” vase, its graceful, elongated form with a flaring mouth is a classic silhouette in Chinese ceramics.

It is hand turned on a potters wheel by skilled artists using traditional techniques learnt from their family passed down through generations.

The flambé glaze, with its deep crimson hue and glossy finish, creates a striking effect that shifts beautifully in the light. Vases of this type were highly prized by scholars and collectors for their dramatic colour and refined simplicity, often displayed as single statement pieces.
