This rustic Japanese cast iron kettle dates to the Edo period and embodies the understated beauty and functional craftsmanship of traditional Japanese tea culture. Beautifully hand cast with a gently flattened rounded form, the kettle features a textured iron surface and an elegant arched handle that has developed a rich natural patina over time.

One side of the kettle is decorated with a subtle relief carving of a fish, adding a symbolic and decorative detail to the otherwise minimalist design. In Japanese culture, fish motifs are often associated with prosperity, abundance and perseverance, making this both a practical and meaningful object. The small fitted lid and compact pouring spout further enhance the refined simplicity of the piece.

Accompanied by woven bamboo mats, this antique kettle displays wonderfully as a decorative object within wabi-sabi, Japandi or traditional interiors. The weathered iron surface and organic materials together create a calm, sculptural presence that reflects the timeless aesthetic principles of Japanese design.
