This Bastar tribal oil lamp of Panchdipa Lakshmi, the Goddess of Light. Lakshmi here is riding an elephant and holding a kalasha (oil pitcher) on her head.

There are four oil burners on this lamp. The piece is very fine quality and made using the classic Dhokra lost wax technique.

A similar piece can be found on page 53 of "Oriental art : India, Nepal and Tibet for pleasure and investment" by Michael Ridley with pieces from the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi.
