These pots are hand beaten and were originally used for drinking water in Kerala, South India.  They would have had a cover made from wood or metal.  Pots that are made from Brass and Copper are often referred to as "Ganga Jumna" which signifies the confluence of the two most holy rivers in India - The Ganges and Jamuna.

This large pot would be ideal to store logs or hold a fruit trees, but it has a plethora of uses.
