A Ming style camphor clothes cabinet of rectangular construction with a pair of panelled doors which have a large brass moon plate.
There is a single shelf inside and a concealed compartment in the base with a lifting lid. The sides are made from cedar.

Chinese cabinets are made with exceptional craftsmanship. The styles on 18th and 19th century pieces are often based on Ming designs that have a beautiful simplicity. They were used for storage of silks, bedding and textiles. Camphorwood was the preferred wood of the wealthy, the smell of camphor discouraged moths and other insects, which is why it was used all around Asia and the east to make cabinets and trunks
