Green Glaze Ginger Jar

This beautiful reproduction Chinese ginger jar has a rich green glaze with a wonderfully characterful, aged appearance. The gently rounded form is complemented by a finely crackled surface, creating subtle variations in tone and texture across the jar.

Each jar is hand-thrown on a potter's wheel by skilled artisans using traditional techniques learnt within their families and passed down through generations. The nature of the glazing and firing process creates individual variations in the depth of the green colour, crackling and surface markings, ensuring that every jar has its own unique character.

Made in Jingdezhen, which has been at the heart of Chinese porcelain and ceramic production since 1004 AD. The famous imperial kilns were established there during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), and the city remains renowned for its exceptional ceramic craftsmanship.

As this is an individually handmade product, the colour, glaze, texture and surface markings of each jar may vary slightly from the example shown in the photographs.
