Chinese Export Pen Box - Mid 19thC

Gilt black lacquer Chinese export ware was made for wealthy members of the British Georgian upper class in the Qing dynasty. This intricate and detailed work was made for export to Britain when Chinoiserie was all the rage in the early 19^th century. Black lacquer export sewing kits and games boxes were also made.
