This gilt black lacquer Chinese table cabinet is one of the best condition pieces we've seen for its age. It was made for the Chinese export market was made for wealthy members of the British Georgian upper class in the Qing dynasty. This intricate and detailed work was made for export to Britain when Chinoiserie was all the rage in the early 19th century. Black lacquer export sewing kits and games boxes were also made.

These pieces are fragile pieces of history and are usually found damaged. This jewellery cabinet has been checked over in our workshop and small restorations made to stop the aging process. The handles were originally ivory. The tops are usually poorly worn, however, the condition of the top on this cabinet is outstanding.
