Description

This 19th century elm farmhouse coffee table from Henan province is a beautifully simple and characterful piece of traditional Chinese country furniture. Originally used for everyday family meals, its long, narrow proportions and sturdy construction reflect a life of practical, domestic use.

Crafted from solid elm, the table has been gently bleached over time, softening the tones of the wood while still allowing the natural grain and historic wear to show through. The surface bears the marks of age and use, giving it a wonderfully tactile quality and a quiet, rustic charm. Its pared-back design, with simple legs and stretcher supports, emphasises function while maintaining a balanced and timeless silhouette.

Versatile and understated, this piece works equally well as a coffee table, bench, or console, bringing warmth and authenticity into both contemporary and traditional interiors.
