This Chinese flower stand can be used as a tall side table and is one of a pair.
This one is catalpa, called "qiu mu" in China and dates from the 19th century. From Shanxi

As the name suggests - Flower stands were used with vases of flowers and were originally made in pairs. A pair of these make ideal bedside tables or lamp tables. These make great lamp tables and are very functional pieces in a small apartment, used behind a sofa or in pairs each side of a mantelpiece. (More may be available in our Wiltshire showroom).
