This exceptional 19th-century window shutter originates from Nagaur in Rajasthan, a historic region renowned for its richly carved architectural details and traditional craftsmanship. Handcrafted from solid hardwood, the shutter features an intricate geometric framework of carved and applied timber elements, each highlighted with decorative iron studs that create a striking sense of texture and depth.
Displaying centuries of wear and a beautifully weathered surface, the shutter retains its original iron fittings, including ring handles and fastening hardware. The combination of robust construction, skilled hand carving, and authentic patina reflects the character of Rajasthan's historic architecture. Today, it serves as a remarkable piece of wall art, bringing warmth, history, and architectural interest to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
