This intricately carved teak lintel panel originates from Gujarat and dates to the 19th century. Originally installed above a doorway, the panel features a central depiction of the Hindu god Ganesh flanked by two attendants€”symbols of wisdom, protection, and auspicious beginnings. Ganesh is a remover of obstacles, reducing conflict between beings. Surrounding this sacred trio is a richly detailed network of scrolling floral and foliate motifs, expertly chip-carved by hand. Traces of old pigment in turquoise, green, and earthy red add a subtle vibrancy, enhancing the depth and age-worn beauty of the carving.

Salvaged from a building no longer structurally sound, this panel offers a remarkable glimpse into regional craftsmanship and devotional art. Its horizontal proportions make it particularly suited for reuse as a decorative overmantel, wall-mounted sculpture, or architectural accent above a doorway in either traditional or contemporary interiors. Supplied with sturdy hangers.
