Paraths were used in India as mixing bowls for making chapatti and paratha bread. Bowls like this are found all over India, and the best wooden parath bowls like this one are carved from a single piece of timber. It dates to the 19th century and at over 100 years old, this piece is covered in a wonderful rich patina from years of use.

This bowl is from the tribal area of Banswara in Rajasthan and has an old metal patch repair.
