This antique parinda from Gujarat, western India, is a window into traditional Indian village architecture. Hand-carved from stone, its rose-pink surface and ornate legs display beautifully intricate carving - note the lotus-style column bases and deep geometric carving along the top edge. Designed to support earthen water pots, the parinda cleverly channels condensation from the pots into a carved drip tray, allowing water to exit through a front spout - an elegant fusion of form and function.
Now weathered with age and softened by time, this beautiful stone piece would make a stunning centrepiece in a garden.
