This beautifully weathered round stone bowl from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, dates to circa 1900 and has been hand-carved from the region’s famed golden-yellow sandstone. Jaisalmer is renowned throughout India for its exceptional stone carving and warm, honey-toned stone, both of which are evident in this characterful piece.

Originally likely used as a utilitarian vessel, the bowl now makes a perfect bird bath, its generous shallow form designed to hold water comfortably. The exterior is decorated with a simple yet elegant carved leaf motif, encircling the body and adding subtle decorative interest. The interior shows gentle wear and natural patination consistent with age, enhancing its rustic charm.

Equally suited to a garden setting or as a decorative architectural accent indoors, this piece brings warmth, texture and authentic Rajasthani craftsmanship to any space.
