Like many things in India, everyday pieces were crucial for day-to-day life and often were embellished and beautifully carved by Marathi craftsmen. Carved on this piece, you can see Nandi bulls and the Indian diety Hanuman. Seed drills were made for the practical purpose of spreading seeds. Now they are no longer needed for their original purpose, they are often used as wonderful decorative ornaments or candle stands.
