This old Indian carved teak votive panel from Andhra Pradesh is over 100 years old dating to the end of the 19th century.
These beautifully carved panels were carved from local teak trees by local tribal people. They were symbols of their favourite deity hung on the walls of village huts often covering a wall cavity which would have held a house god like Shiva, Lakshmi, Ganesh or Vishnu. They look great hung on a wall as a group. Some votive panels have traces of paint or red tika on them which was pressed into the panels as part of daily rituals.
Supplied fitted with a hanger.
