This fabulous coffee table is a Takhat. These were originally used as daybeds by the wealthy merchant classes in Rajasthan - particularly the Shekavati area. They are usually made from roheda wood which is a variety of Acacia.

This particular Takhat has a very unique look. Cut from a single trunk, it has unique flowing planks on the top which followed the curve of the tree.

It would make an impressive centrepiece for a living room, conservatory or summer house.
