This large elegant black glazed stoneware storage jar is from 19th century Hebei province in China would have been used for the storage of liquids such as wine, vinegar, and oils. This large jar has a black dribble glaze with iridescent hints of a brown overglaze and would look best displayed as a large decorative jar. The glaze is applied as a drip glaze, hence the beautifully organic dribbles at the base.
