This decorative chest is from Burma and is constructed from teak wood. It is easily identifiable from its delicate wire inlay and flamboyantly decorated interior. It does to the mid 19th century. Its decorative brass wire work is indicative of Burmese artistry. The interior is split into compartments which can be removed to reveal a large interior space. The inside of the lid is decorated with beautiful carving with an original central mirror. Old felt petals and flowers are also still in place.

These chests were used during the British raj and would have been owned by members of the military.
