Verdigris Bronze Han Style Horse Statue

This magnificent museum quality replica Han Dynasty (202BC - 9 AD, 25-220 AD) horse has a beautiful form and a verdigris bronze finish. Horse art became prominent in the Han dynasty when Chinese emperor Wu (141-87 BC) became obsessed with finding the 'heavenly horse'. He sent diplomats to central Asia in search of the very best breeds. This led to the prominence of horse art and statuary in Han dynasty aristocratic tombs. These horses were used as celestial horses for transportation in the afterlife
