This old Indian box from Gujarat dates to the 19th century and is a superb example of Indian craftsmanship combined with quirky Indian design. Carved from rosewood and adorned with brass metalwork. This style of box is only found in Gujarat in the areas of Kutch & Saurashtra and brass peacocks often adorn the front, These safe boxes would have been used for cash and jewellery.
