This antique brass chapati box from Rajasthan dates to around 1900 and was once used for carrying chapati (wheat flatbread) and naan. Unlike the more ornate engraved examples, this one has a simple, undecorated lid, giving it a more understated and utilitarian character while retaining the same traditional round form and secure clasp fastening.
The lid is fitted with a bold loop handle set on a stylised floral boss, adding a touch of ornament to its otherwise plain design. With its warm golden patina and signs of long use, this chapati box captures the essence of Indian domestic life in the early 20th century. Today it makes an elegant serving or storage piece, or simply a decorative object that embodies everyday craftsmanship from Rajasthan.
