    Title

This antique brass bound Anglo-Burmese military chest dates to the 19th century and is decorated with brass inlaid wire work classically indicative of Burmese artistry. This piece is a fine example of an Anglo-Burmese military chest and the perfect size for a coffee table. This particular one is also mounted on wheels for ease of movement.

This style of military chest is always etched with brass wire and is constructed from beautifully patinated teak wood with its original brass fittings and handles. The interior consists of one large space below a removable tray and carved compartments. Two candle boxes on either side allow for additional storage. The candle box on the left side has a carved lid as well as access to a compartment below.

Military chests were used by officers of the British Indian Army to carry their kit and personal possessions whilst on tour, they were made to order and had to withstand a lot of punishment in transit.
