These Anglo-Indian Military chests were originally used by officers of the British Indian Army to carry their kit and personal possessions whilst on tour. As they had to with-stand a lot of punishment in transit, they were exceptionally well made. The top name plate originally would have shown the name of the owner, a soldier or officer.

Campaign chests were constructed from teak, rosewood or jackfruit wood and were made to order by skilled carpenters. Depending on rank, these were re-enforced with corners of brass or iron.

We've finished this chest in our Wiltshire workshops to preserve the beautiful age and patina. This is the perfect height for a coffee table and is almost square in form, a less common shape in campaign furniture.
