Pierced Brass Paan Box From Rajasthan - Late 19th Century

A beautiful late 19th century brass paan box from Rajasthan, is an excellent example of the pierced work which became prominent at the end of the late 19th century. Finely pierced throughout with intricate jali decoration, the box is adorned with betel leaves (indicating the original purpose of this box) and delicate openwork panels that create a lace-like effect across every surface.
