This reproduction Chinese blue & white porcelain fish bowl is hand painted and made in the classic Ming style. It is perfect for a garden planter or for indoor houseplants. It features a beautiful scrolling lotus design. The lotus flower is well associated with royalty and literati. It symbolises the soul's power to emerge from the physical world to achieve enlightenment as the lotus rises undefiled from the muddy waters.

These were originally used to keep fish in (usually koi carp). Today, they are far more likely to be used as planters and are made in small batches by hand. Most potters have learned their craft from the elders of their family and these skills have been handed down through the generations.
