These beautiful Chinese reproduction porcelain jars are decorated with blue and white glaze. This shape is called a meiping vase, and it is glazed in the style of a Ming Yongle style decorated with peonies.

Meiping vases, are also known as plum vases. The neck of this vase is decorated with a Yúnjiān cloud collar. There is writing on the side, 製年德宣明大 translating to 'proclaiming great virtues'.

Our reproduction Chinese porcelain is hand made and hand painted in small workshops in Jingdezhen which is still the centre for the best quality porcelain. They feature a trailing peony design as well as decorative spirals on the base and lid.

Porcelain is steeped in centuries of Chinese culture and history. Even though pottery developed in China 15,000 years ago, most experts believe that true porcelain -which also originated in China - didn't emerge in the region until the Han Dynasty -202 BC to 220 AD. Blue and white porcelain is glazed using a transparent porcelain glaze dating back to the Tang Dynasty - 618 - 907.
